The brightest of paintings are balanced best with a hint of darkness, and so are the brightest of lives. Beautiful people, after all, are made not born.

A dating profile
Writing an online profile is surprisingly not painful. I expected it to be.
But the more I think about it, I am the new average - which is alright, I was feeling a bit awkward about being in my late-thirties and looking for a mate online because work and play haven't sent anyone quite right to me yet.
Our brain is yet to catch-up, tho! For thousands of years our brains and our bodies have evolved to spot a friend in a split second from their body language (and perhaps their voice) - the likelihood of meeting someone who did not grow to look like us was beyond remote.
This diverse and multicutural Canberra where people meet online is strange for my brain, and maybe for you too. Having said that, what could be cooler - this arrow shot in the ether, this call to the hills, this letter in the bottle, that actually has a positive chance of reaching the right person.
I am a reader of fantasy novels. Things never quite get as bad in real life as they do in fantasy novels, so they are all the more satisfying when they end in a good way. Reading one of these books recently (or I'll be more precise, listening to David Tennant narrating it on audible) I came across a nugget: There are kind people in the world, you just have to find them.
Who knew I would find inspiration to write a dating profile from a children's fantasy book? But I expect it makes sense - there are kind and interesting and interested single men in Canberra, I just have to find one.

Day 2: I want to go to sleep.
Something wonderful has happened at work, apart from a few bad days - these days I can get so absorbed at work that hours vanish. This is brilliant, because right now, that is my only hope...
My left shoulder is killing* me, my ankle/left foot** is not being my friend and I... well I feel like I ran into a truck. A warm bed and the world's most adorable dog and sleep will come...
the second best idea is thinking deep thoughts in a comfortable quiet spot - after having stuffed myself with comfortable carbs and salty japanese curry... which is where I am. so greatful!
*oscillating between a dull ache that has part of my arm numb, and these crazy stabbing pain, with a side effect of some kind of headache/bodyache something
** stone bruise - which I would have avoided if my coach hadn't "helpfully" come to check on me and moved me towards the rocks while taking room on the smooth track herself!!?! Anyhow, I cannot run or jog, walking is fine.

Day 1: I'm missing my puppy
while I am at work! So physically tired!! That's all!!
Actually no, that's not all...
I am realising that if I want to be the kind of person I want to be - I have to do a double shift, at least. One at work and one at home. And I like that. But, I can't sustain it. But, I can't not try. So I am a bit achy!
