Umm, so I'd like a pair of binoculars, a pocket camera with a good zoom and a tablet. I'd also like to book some surfing lessons and while I am at it, some sailing lessons too!

A couple of years ago when I was moving houses, I lost a CD (or two) that I had borrowed from the public library, which for this* reason or that** kept me from going back there again. My loss completely! I have recently gone back and re-read nearly all of the Tintin again, and a lot of Astrix. And recently, I borrowed this wonderful book:

OK,  I have showed you the back cover of the book, because a recent cover has been used for the cover of the book, and they simply seem lazy and sensationalised (because, seriously, a female body is used to sell so many things that even when they claim to use it to sell clothes or style, it still seems far too blah!)  Looking at the older covers, one almost regret the invention of cameras. The same faces smiling or pouting or staring at us from so many surfaces, that you cannot but just turn your head away, in some sort of a fatigue, even. The amount of space in the older covers is another thing, there is none of that jostling cluster that magazine covers have these days - and that makes them pretty enough to frame and put on the wall!

Anyway, this post wasn't even going to be about Vogue covers, if anything it was going to be about a dress (a wrap-around!) that I would have liked for my 30th birthday:

and it was going to be about this book that might or might not be interesting!

A funky kitten and funky furniture for it

I would like a nice placid home kitten, but before it can come, the house really needs to be ready for it! I am working at sorting and getting rid of the junk in the house. But a kitten/cat would also need a scratchpole and other things like that and true to being - a lover of all things expensive - how awesome would something like this be:

Arco Lamp

Firstly, considering how many people came to my blog looking for a chesterfield, here is another picture of a Chesterfield (beautiful colour!), AND with Tina Fey sitting on it!!



Secondly, in my thirties and even after, i am sure I'll be able to find room for an Arco Lamp. It is the lamp in the picture below:

Arco Lamp, there is in fact a website dedicated to it! Once upon a time, I did not know that pieces of furniture and lightings had names. The above picture changed it all, first I realised that the owner of the house designed "bubble chairs" and then I spent forever trying to find someone somewhere with that lamp, without knowing that it had a name! (and a rather big price tag!)

A good ol' neat bathroom

The wise folks at design sponge put up a collection of bathrooms to look at! And I think I'd love this bath and shower curtain (on the left) to go up at my place:


and while I am at it, I wouldn't might a bit of skylight to go in there too!



So, how does a bathtub and skylight in a bathroom sound for a birthday present? Pretty awesome, don't you think!

Bonsai

Around the blog-land people turning 30 usually have a list of 30, most of it is something to achieve before leaving the 20'ies behind. My 20'ies, now, seem like some kind of a dance where it isnt entirely clear how i have progressed.
So, I have decided to do something very self-indulgent. I am going to put a list of 30 things* I would love for my birthday - and I really hope I stop at that number! :)

I'd like a Bonsai tree.
I was always a bit worried about how Bonsai seem to have never achieved it potential as a tree, and seemed like a cruel art. But I found my way to the national bonsai garden recently, and it was amazing how tranquil they felt - all except one, which had been cruelly bent; and in fact they seemed like the perfect metaphor for Canberra as a city.




While I would love a Bo tree, they really arent going to like the Canberra weather, so it will have to be another one. How about an Australian Bonsai? There are a few on here, just click on NEXT SPECIES at the top left corner of the page!
